The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation plans to negotiate with smartphone manufacturers about the possibility of pre-installing the domestic Russtore application store on smartphones imported into Russia at the stage of purchase at factories. In this respect informs TASS referred to Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.

“We hope to reach an agreement with the device manufacturers, with the vendors, and the pre-installation at the factory immediately,” the minister said.

He stated that it would be more secure and user-friendly for retailers to unbox the devices and install Russtore manually. Doing so may void your warranty and violate your privacy.

“And then users probably won’t want to buy such a phone, and even if they do get one, they’ll obviously be going back to factory settings because it’s not transparent to them what a particular engineer puts on a particular network.” Shadayev added it.

The Minister expressed hope that the Ministry of Digital Transformation will be able to negotiate with Samsung and Apple, as well as with all device manufacturers not covered by parallel imports. Manufacturers are offered the ability to offer installation or automatically install Russian apps when users select the Russian language and Russian region.
