MegaFon: The participation of broadcast platforms increased by 1.5 times

According to the results of a study by MegaFon experts based on personalized subscriber data, the participation of popular broadcasting platforms increased by 50% in 2023.

Twitch is still the most sought-after platform by broadcasters. During the year, the Russian audience grew by 24%, despite restrictions on monetization and calls from bloggers to switch to other services. Tencent’s Chinese platform Trovo is in second place.

The core audience of broadcast platforms has shifted from zoomers (born 1997 – 2012) to millennials (born 1981 – 1996). While in 2022, subscribers in the 17-25 age group accounted for 48% of all visits, this rate has now dropped to 44.5%. The main audiences of streaming platforms were millennials (ages 25-35), making up 47% of all viewers.

Millennials are also more likely than others to financially support their favorite publishers; they make up 46% of the target audience of donation services today. Zoomers only make up 35%.

boosty.to has become Russia’s most popular donation platform. In the first half of the year, its participation increased 3.4 times compared to the same period of 2022. In addition, among the most popular donation sites among Russians, sponsr.ru and donatepay.ru are in the top 3 places.
