Rossiyskaya Gazeta columnist Oleg Kapranov was denied entry to IFA 2023, the international consumer electronics fair in Berlin. The day before departure, he received a refusal from the organizers and on this said “Toxic Number” on the Telegram channel.
According to Kapranov, he and his colleagues received accreditation approval and badges in July, and these documents were sent back to them on 28 August. Journalists managed to book hotels, apply for visas and buy plane tickets with two transfers. However, on August 29, they received a letter from the organizers stating that the Russian press could not visit the exhibition.
“Unfortunately, we do not accept media from Russia. The letter states: “We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you at IFA in the future.”
Kapranov noted that he has been participating in the IFA exhibition from different channels for more than 10 years and now the fair has concluded with the “pig road”.
IFA is one of Europe’s largest and oldest trade fairs dedicated to consumer electronics and home appliances. It will be held in Berlin from September 1-5 this year.
