Meta Corporation (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) has released a new version of the WhatsApp messenger for iOS and Android that allows you to send high-definition (HD) videos. In this respect informs edition 9To5Mac.
Before the update, all videos sent to WhatsApp were automatically compressed to 480p resolution; 9To5Mac states that this is very low by today’s standards. Although compression can reduce the file size, the quality of the video associated with it is greatly reduced.
With the release of the new version, you can choose the compression mode between Standard Quality (480p) and HD Quality (720p) when sending video. At the same time, the WhatsApp interface will indicate to what size the file will be reduced after one or another processing option.
9To5Mac writes that the 720p resolution is still well below the current 1080p and 4K. Therefore, if the user wants to share such a video without losing quality, he will have to send the selected clip as a file.
The new version of WhatsApp is already available for download from the App Store and Google Play in most countries.
