The new budget smartphone Google Pixel 8a will receive a version of the proprietary next-generation Tensor G3 processor that works at reduced frequencies. In this respect informs The WccfTech publication cites test results in the Geekbench 5 comparison of the device.
The test results show that the Tensor G3 for Pixel 8a is a nine-core chip. The cores are divided into three clusters: two of the four cores with frequencies up to 1.7 GHz and 2.38 GHz, as well as a single-core cluster reaching 2.91 GHz. In Geekbench 5, the new Google smartphone is codenamed Akita.
Pixel 8a scored 1218 points in the single-core test and 3175 points in the multi-core test, while for comparison, Qualcomm’s current-generation flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen2 scored 1479 and 4803 points in Geekbench 5, respectively.
WccfTech says the resulting gap is huge. At the same time, the situation will worsen with the advent of Snapdragon 8 Gen3 at the end of 2023.
Pixel 8a is expected to be introduced in early 2024.
