Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption game, which was released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on August 17, was tested on PC using the Yuzu emulator. Enthusiasts managed to run the project in 4K at 60 FPS, informs DTF Portal.

According to testers, Red Dead Redemption works stably on the Yuzu emulator using the OpenGL graphics API and does not require additional patches for the game to run on PC. The Yuzu emulator also gives you the option to turn off the game’s framerate cap, which is 30 FPS on Nintendo Switch. On a PC with a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, the game reaches frame rates of up to 60fps at 4K resolution, with occasional frame drops in some scenes.

Some Yuzu users also tested Red Dead Redemption using the Vulkan API. According to their feedback, Vulkan provides slightly better performance in the game, but introduces graphical bugs that have not yet been fixed by the emulator developers.

Red Dead Redemption also worked on the Yuzu emulator on Valve’s Steam Deck portable console. However, the device showed an average frame rate of under 30 FPS, indicating that the device is not powerful enough for this game.

Red Dead Redemption is a popular Rockstar Games prequel to the second part and chronicles the adventures of rogue John Marston in the Wild West in the early 20th century. The game was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, and versions for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch were released in August.
