The Windows 11 August update fixed an issue that was slowing down users’ SSDs, but it also broke Microsoft Defender’s built-in antivirus. In this respect informs Windows Latest Portal.
It is noted that the acceleration of the SSD was noticed by users after installing the patch. Despite numerous complaints from users about slow drivers in the past, the company itself did not indicate this fact in the official description of the update.
However, it is stated that some users are unable to install the patch, while others report that the update causes the system to freeze. Additionally, some users reported that the built-in Microsoft Defender Antivirus stopped working after the update. Now when they open the app they get the error “Unable to sign in to Microsoft Defender”.
The company has not yet confirmed these issues, but a Microsoft technical support representative told reporters that the company is aware of the situation and the antivirus will be fixed in one of the next updates. No official statement has been made from Microsoft itself.
