Fyodor Dbar, commercial director of Security Code, told Gazeta.ru that from a technical point of view, only the use of public Wi-Fi networks that can be entered without a password will allow Russians to remain anonymous on the Internet.
“Anonymous login is possible through some public Wi-Fi hotspots. But in most cases they have to register using a phone number, less often by mail.”
According to the expert, when a phone or mail is required to connect to Wi-Fi, the user can be identified as the number is tied to the data in the contract.
“Most Internet users today are transparent to operators, who store information about who connects to their networks, from which IPs, and also about user-generated traffic according to Yarovaya law,” Dbar summarized.
According to him, the user legally identifies himself as a citizen by accessing the Internet from anywhere in the country and in any way within Russia.
