YouTube blogger Mrkeybrd has tested the fragility of popular foldable smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola Razr Plus. These release reports Border.
“After several days of continuous folding and unfolding, the Samsung phone finally failed after more than 400,000 folds. It withstood twice as many folding cycles as the Motorola Razr Plus,” the blogger wrote.
According to Mrkeybrd, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 was able to withstand exactly 401,146 folds. The experiment was carried out from August 2 to August 9. The channel live-streamed how the phone was constantly folded and unfolded by testers.
Samsung’s foldable model was initially compared to Motorola’s recently launched Razr Plus, but the Motorola foldable’s screen only cracked after 126,266 cycles.
According to the blogger, a hinge malfunction occurred on the Z Flip 5 after around 223,000 folds. The mechanism of the device still continued to work but the screen would not turn off smoothly.
