WhatsApp will introduce a new authentication system that uses biometric access keys. In this respect informs Portal WABetaInfo, which specializes in news about the messenger.

According to the source, the new feature was discovered in WhatsApp beta version 2.23.17.5 for Android. With its help, users will be able to log into their account from any device, confirming their identity using special access keys. These are short combinations of numbers or letters that you won’t need to remember, as they will be stored in Google’s password manager.

Additionally, a screen lock code or biometrics will be used for authentication: fingerprint and face recognition. Thus, WhatsApp developers aim to increase the security and privacy levels of their users.

It is not yet known when the new authentication system will be available to all users of WhatsApp stable builds on Android and iOS. At this stage, the innovation is still in development.
