Foreign browsers monitor users’ actions almost uncontrollably and collect their data, then store it on their servers. This was expressed by Vadim Vinogradov, Dean of the HSE Law Institute.
He emphasized that for this reason, it is extremely important to regulate the activities of IT giants, especially in terms of information transfer.
Recall that in 2020 Google was accused of violating privacy rules. At the same time, users state that the browser continues to monitor their actions even after enabling incognito mode.
by publication 3D NewsA California court denied the company’s request for summary judgment. The case has been sent back for full consideration.
“Google deliberately violates users’ rights for its own commercial interests, including advertising promotion. Advertising brings a large portion of revenue to the IT giant,” Vinogradov said.
According to official reports, he noted that in the second quarter of 2023 alone, Google earned more than $58 billion from advertising, which is 3% more than last year.
“Therefore, it is not surprising that Google chose the latter between observing user rights and monetary gain,” said the expert.
According to him, this isn’t the first time the IT giant has been accused of secretly collecting information about users.
“Similar events are happening all over the world. As we see, the situation is getting worse – even the data that appears on the network in incognito mode is threatened, ”Vinogradov concluded.
