MacRumors Portal published Photos allegedly showing USB-C connectors for three iPhone 15 models.
Pictures show parts of USB-C connectors for basic iPhone 15, 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max. This indicates that Apple does indeed intend to abandon the proprietary Lightning standard in favor of the more versatile USB Type-C.
One of the reasons Apple abandoned the combo connector is considered to be new legislation in Europe that requires smartphone manufacturers to use a single charging standard.
The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to have an advantage over the standard iPhone 15 models in data transfer speed. At the same time, the base models of the new iPhones will receive USB-C version 2.0 with features similar to the old Lightning.
We also know that Apple will only officially support USB-C accessories approved by the Apple Made for iPhone (MFi) program.
It is said that the introduction of the iPhone 15 series smartphones and the new Apple Watch will take place on September 13.
