A former employee of Meta IT company (known as an extremist and banned in Russia) said that in the first few weeks of his job, he had absolutely nothing to do, so he took surfing lessons. He talked about it in an interview with business insider.
“There were no instructions or job assignments. I remember having absolutely nothing to do and instead surfed because I was away. I have no one to report to. “No one seems to know I’m here,” he said.
The former Meta employee revealed that he had been with the company for less than two months at the time. All this time he was waiting to be included in the team as a data scientist.
According to the former employee, one of his only contacts at the company at the time was a data consultant, but he did not communicate with her for long.
Before accepting an official position at Meta, the former employee did two consecutive summer internships at a technology company. According to him, the internships were in a more active place, the manager with whom he was assigned regularly contacted him.
“I think it still didn’t feel like a real job. But I was hoping that when I accepted a full-time job offer, I would move to a new level at the company,” explained the former employee of the tech giant.
According to a former employee, he was fired during the first mass layoffs at Meta in the fall of 2022. A few weeks ago, he had moved from the East Coast to the West Coast in San Francisco to live near the Meta headquarters.
