In 2023, less than 5% of smartphones with a screen diagonal of less than six inches sold in Russia accounted for less than 5%. In this respect informs TASS refers to a study by M.Video-Eldorado.
“There are almost no devices left on the market with screens up to six inches diagonal (about 5% this year compared to 55% in 2019),” the retailer said.
According to M.Video-Eldorado, the average screen size of smartphones purchased by Russians in the first half of 2023 was 6.55 inches. For comparison: In 2019, the average diagonal was 5.1 inches, or 28% less. The company attributed this growth to the change in industry standards among manufacturers.
“The actions that can be used on a smartphone – work, entertainment, information, communication, shopping – have become more comfortable to perform on a large frameless screen,” said Sergey Uvarov, Head of the Telecoms Department of M.Video-Eldorado.
According to the expert, the average diagonal will continue to grow. Growth will be achieved with folding screen smartphones. Having smaller dimensions when folded, these devices allow manufacturers to use 7- and almost 8-inch screens.
