In total, 1.5 million smart speakers in the amount of 12 billion rubles were sold in Russia during the specified period. Yandex continues to be the market leader with a share of 86%. “Capsule” from VK takes the second place with 10% share.
In the first half of 2023, total smart device sales in Russia increased by 40% on the basis of units and 30% in monetary terms. Voice assistant speakers accounted for 70% of all smart home sales.
Devices in the “smart lighting systems” category took the second place. Sales of smart bulbs and other lighting systems increased by 14% in the first six months. The top 3 are closing smart sockets, whose sales increased by 10%.
“We see a growing need among customers not only to optimize energy consumption and improve comfort levels, but also for safety. For example, sales of CCTV door locks and smart locks increased 9.5 times and 7 times respectively. “Smart” pet groomers are also showing significant growth, for example, being able to feed a cat while their owner is in the country,” said Andrey Gubanov, Managing Director of the MTS retail chain.
The main drivers of growth are the expansion of the product range thanks to Chinese brands, and smart speaker manufacturers maintaining affordable prices as they launch new generations.
