MegaFon became the leader in network coverage and mobile Internet speed in 2023. This is evidenced by the results of an independent study by the international company Ookla.
The results of the study are based on the measurements of the mobile internet speeds of all operators’ subscribers using the Speedtest application in the first half of the year. Such data from users allows us to estimate the speed anywhere throughout Russia. The median download speed on the MegaFon network was 29.34 Mbps, and the download speed was 9.71 Mbps. Today these are the fastest speeds in Russia for mobile users.
Analysts examine the availability and quality of operator services in each 100 × 100 meter area across the country where there is mobile connectivity, to assess the coverage of mobile networks. Ookla experts analyzed more than 3.2 billion metrics from 2 million unique devices.
“Over the past year, traffic consumption has continued to increase and we are actively working on the quality of communication – now our subscribers can download an average of 20% higher download speed than their nearest competitor.
