Apple is in talks with flexible display vendors for a foldable MacBook. In this respect informs Business Korean edition.

Apple aims to complete production of the first flexible-screen MacBook as early as 2025 and launch it in 2026.

According to the source, Samsung Display has invested $3.1 billion to produce 8.6 generation OLED panels between 2025 and 2026. LG Display has also invested in the production of mid-sized OLED matrices.

It is claimed that making large foldable screens cheaper than flexible screens for smartphones will help improve this aspect and allow manufacturers to make more money.

LG and Samsung do not yet have a laptop with a foldable screen in their lineup. However, Samsung Electronics has a registered trademark for such a device.

It is noted that the current leader in the foldable laptop market is Asus. The Taiwanese manufacturer launched the world’s first 17-inch foldable laptop, ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, in September 2022. The manufacturer of the display on this computer was the Chinese company BOE.
