The Threads social network will be able to operate in Russia, subject to legal requirements. About this TASS reported in Roskomnadzor.

The supervisory authority explained that, according to the law, websites visited by Russian users must immediately remove socially dangerous content and prevent the spread of destructive material.

The release of Threads app on Android and iOS has already happened. According to TASS, a VPN connection is required for the social network to work. This is probably because the Threads account is associated with an Instagram profile (its owner, Meta, is recognized as an extremist in Russia and is banned) – when signing up for a new service, user data is taken from there. In the early stages of registration, your Instagram acquaintances will also be asked to follow Topics. Finally, the user can make his profile public or private.

It allows you to post topics, text, videos and photos. You can add replies to each post to create a topic. [англ. — threads]. Below each post, the number of replies and likes is displayed. Like Twitter, the new social network has the ability to repost and quote a topic. You can also post the thread to your Instagram story and feed.

The topic feed shows the content of the people the user follows on Instagram and Topics. The social network also has recommendations for finding new content.

Threads’ full launch is scheduled for July 6 at 17:00 Moscow time.

Formerly Zuckerberg published The first post on Twitter after 11 years featured a popular meme in his Tweet.
