Xiaomi has informed owners of former Redmi smartphones to be included in the list of devices supported by MIUI 14. informs XiaomiUI Portal.
Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 are relatively new and quite popular smartphones, but initially Xiaomi did not plan to release MIUI 14 for them.Although there were rumors in the media that a new version of the proprietary shell is being prepared for them as well.
Later, Xiaomi nevertheless changed its mind and added smartphones to the list of available devices. XiaomiUI writes that perhaps the seller did this to please their customers, who were annoyed by the inclusion of the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 in the End of Support list, which regularly includes outdated smartphones.
According to the email screenshots from Xiaomi Support, Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 will start receiving MIUI 14 in the third and fourth quarter of 2023. The MIUI 14 version for these devices will likely be based on Android 13, as it was reported yesterday that only the latest generation Xiaomi and Redmi flagships will receive MIUI 14 based on Android 14.
