EA and Studio Maxis are planning to distribute the new game The Sims 5 for free. In this respect informs The Sims Community Portal that links to job descriptions on the Maxis Careers website.

While development on The Sims 5 is in full swing, Maxis is actively recruiting new developers to join its team. In particular, according to one of the vacancies, Maxis needs the head of the monetization department. The announcement states that the new employee will have to play The Sims series, aka The Sims 5, codenamed Project Rene.

The head of the monetization department will have to develop an in-game economy that will include both paid and free items. Also, according to The Sims Community, The Sims 5 may include a store with user-generated content. This means that players can apparently create their own virtual items and sell them in-game.

The job posting also states that The Sims 5 will be distributed under the Free to Enter model. How this model will differ from the already known Free to Play plan is not reported. Whatever the literal meaning of the term, The Sims Community believes The Sims 5 will be a free game.

Another point that the leak sheds light on was the list of platforms supported by The Sims 5. Before the job posting, it was known that the game will only come to PC, but a new announcement on the Maxis Careers website shows that it is also planned to be released on consoles.

The Sims 5 was announced in October 2022. A final release date for the game has yet to be determined.

Previously known insider Colin Moriarty reportedGTA developers will soon introduce a new game in the Red Dead Redemption series.
