Beginning in March 2023, Microsoft began rolling out mandatory updates for Windows 11 that significantly slowed down SSDs on some PCs. In this respect informs Windows Latest Version, referring to user reviews.

Updates slow down the SSD so much that users notice the problem not only when moving large amounts of files from one directory to another, but also when performing basic tasks. In particular, updates affect the slowdown in booting the PC and launching games.

To support their words, some users post screenshots with SSD test results in CrystalDiskMark benchmark before and after installing updates. Judging by them, the speed of the disk in some cases drops from 7000 MB / s to 1000 MB / s, that is, seven times.

Windows Latest writes that updates KB5023778 (March 2023), KB5025239 (April 2023), KB5026372 (May 2023), KB5027231 (June 2023), and KB5027303 (June 2023) slow the computer down.

Exactly what causes the problem is not reported. Microsoft did not comment on the situation at the time of publication. According to Windows Latest, rolling back to a version of Windows prior to installing the March update KB5023778 will fix the SSD issue.
