American company Purism introduced its new smartphone Liberty Phone, which is said to be produced entirely in the USA. In this respect informs Liliputing edition.
Liberty Phone received a 5.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. Responsible for the performance is the NXP i.MX 8M processor released in 2017. It has four ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum clock speed of up to 1.5 GHz. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The smartphone supports wireless standards such as Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 4 and LTE. It also has a 4500mAh battery with support for fast charging via USB 3.0 Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot up to 2TB.
Liberty Phone runs PureOS, a proprietary Linux-based operating system. At the same time, the manufacturer does not prohibit the installation of other operating systems from the “Linuxoid” category on the device.
Purism considers the all-American origin as the main feature of its smartphone. Both the software and electronic components of the device are made in the USA, and according to the manufacturer, this eliminates attackers in the supply chain.
Liberty Phone is already available for purchase in the US. Purism is asking for 2.2 thousand dollars (about 195 thousand rubles) for the new product, which is much higher than the cost of the latest iPhone models and the most powerful modifications of Samsung’s flagships.
