The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation wants to divide the native operating systems (OS) for smartphones by type of consumer. With reference to the sources informs Kommersant version.
The concept of Mintsifra assumes that consumers are divided into three categories: corporate workers, public sector workers and ordinary citizens. The government wants to transfer the first two categories to secure devices running Aurora OS from Rostelecom, while civilians will leave smartphones running Rosa OS from STC IT ROSA.
As an alternative to Rosa OS, the Russian analogue of Android based on the open source AOSP is being considered. Sberbank, VK, Yandex and other Russian IT giants are considered potential developers of such an operating system.
To motivate app developers to develop Russian mobile ecosystems, the option of co-financing their projects from the state budget is being considered. Citizens’ interest in Russian operating systems can only be stimulated by providing a set of government services on the same Russian operating systems.
