TikTok plans to launch a new TikTok Shop service in its eponymous app for posting and viewing vertical videos. In this respect informs Edition of The Verge.
TikTok Shop will be an online store built into a separate section of the app. In it, brands will be able to offer their products for sale and advertise them with the help of bloggers.
The Verge writes that TikTok has been working on adding an e-commerce section to its app for a long time. Its integration has long been blocked due to its problems in the US, due to allegations that TikTok poses a national security risk. Currently, the distribution of the TikTok app is already restricted in some states.
The launch of the store is not the first attempt by the Chinese company to enter the e-commerce market. The Verge writes that the video service is trying to launch fast merchandise sales during livestreams in the United States – throttling due to low popularity.
TikTok Shop is expected to launch as early as July 2023. For the first time, the new service will only be available in the US.
