Scientists from Imperial College London and the Swiss Institute Empa demonstrated a fireproof quadcopter FireDrone prototype that can withstand temperatures of up to 200°C for 10 minutes. According to this New AtlasThe drone is specially designed to extinguish fires in buildings filled with fire and smoke.
The device can also search for people and transmit data about their detection to rescuers via remote control. The FireDrone has an optical camera, an infrared camera, and a carbon dioxide sensor. When entering a burning building, FireDrone transmits all sensor data in real time.
The drone’s heat resistance was achieved using a special insulating airgel applied to the entire body of the FireDrone. The porous gel consists of polyamide plastic, silica and fiberglass.
The FireDrone also has an aluminum outer shell, i.e. foil. It also helps reflect heat away from the drone.
The FireDrone has been successfully tested at a firefighter training center. Over time, it is expected that the innovation will begin to reach the fire departments of European countries.
before in Russia created Reconnaissance micro drone like NATO.
