According to the blogger, whose real name is Russ Cook, he was sitting in the van with the operator and other assistants, several gunmen approached them, opened the side door and asked them to hand over all their valuables. As a result, the criminals took several video cameras, two iPhones, all the cash and passports of the film crew. No injuries resulted from the incident.
“Nothing is exhilarating like a gun pointed at your face… It could have been much worse. The local police are doing their best to help us,” Cook said.
The Hardest Geezer began its run on April 22, 2023. He plans to be the first to run across Africa from north to south. It also raises money for charity, which it plans to donate to The Running Charity and WaterAid.
