Scammers began to offer Russians a job in a well-known retail chain that sells cosmetics and perfumes. Those who accept the job offer perform the tasks assigned by the “employer” daily on the scam site and replenish their account balances to continue working. Once the money has been transferred, it is no longer possible to withdraw it. This was reported to socialbites.ca by the leading analyst of the Digital Risk Protection Department of FAC.С.T. Evgeny Egorov.
For “employment”, the user is asked to answer several questions: to indicate his gender, place of residence, age and occupation, and then pass several test tasks, promising to pay 500 rubles. Expert Egorov explained that as a test task, the newcomer was sent a link to a site where he had to like the product and send a screenshot to the “employer”.
In June, a mailing list with easy money offers was noticed on Telegram and WhtasApp messengers. Russians are offered to like new products on a cosmetic site and earn from 800 to 8.5 thousand rubles a day.
“Internet fraudulent employment is a very common fraud scheme with a variety of scenarios: writing reviews on marketplaces, working as a clerk in a taxi, or working as a manager in a hotel. The victim is gradually drawn into the illusion, convinced that he is working remotely on the service, carrying out routine but actually imaginary activities,” the cyber expert added.
Egorov advised to check the information about vacancies on the official websites of brands, so as not to become a victim of scammers.
