Xbox division head Phil Spencer spoke at the US Federal Trade Commission hearings regarding the agreement between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. He promised that the Call of Duty series would stay on PlayStation consoles. Bloomberg.
One of Sony’s main arguments against Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which was responsible for the release of the popular Call of Duty shooter, is to undermine the competition between the two console brands. Federal District Court for the Northern District of California, Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley asked Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft’s gaming division, to confirm that the company would not be releasing a competitor without a cult game.
Spencer ceremoniously raised his hand and said, “I swear we’ll continue to release future versions of Call of Duty for Sony PlayStation.” He added that Microsoft will abide by this rule as long as it suits Sony.
The Xbox head added that PlayStation owners have built a large audience for Call of Duty and this game will ensure the growth of Activision Blizzard and Microsoft after the merger. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Activision CEO Bobby Kotick are also expected to speak at the five-day hearing.
Previously, it was known that Phil Spencer blamed Sony When using Minecraft to fight Xbox.
