Studio TESRenewal, developing the fan remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the Skyrim engine, published video where he talks about the current status of the project and its plans for the future.
The authors of the project emphasized that their aim is to create an exciting and vibrant world of Cyrodiil that will encourage players to create their own stories. To do this, they aim to enhance the original game’s visual storytelling by leveraging the power of the Skyrim engine.
According to the developers, they have now completed work in six of the state’s nine regions: Gold Coast, Colovian Highlands, Middle-earth, the Great and Black Forests, as well as the Jerol and Valus mountains. The overall readiness of the map is 82.7%. The remaining three regions – the Western Weld, the Nibenay Basin and the Valley – are under varying degrees of completion.
The updated version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will feature 600 different interiors for buildings and dungeons. Of these, 260 have already been fully prepared. The developers also said that they have recreated all the 3D objects from the original game to meet modern quality standards. Currently, 1893 out of 2508 models are available.
The studio also plans to recreate 199 missions from the original game. Of these, 97 are fully completed, 25 require improvement, and 77 have not yet started. Additionally, the developers have implemented some mechanics from Skyrim such as magic crafting, underwater battles, weather changes, and alchemy. In the future, they plan to add a class system, disposition, attributes, and use of magic.
It is known that the development of Skyblivion began in 2012. The game is promised to be released in 2025, but the exact dates have not been announced yet.
