“I feel like a low earner”

Russian broadcaster Olga Olyashaa Saxon, who went to Canada in November 2022, said she lost some of her earnings as a result of her leaving Russia. Currently, the monthly earnings, according to him, are “floating” and amount to 400 thousand rubles.

“250 thousand rubles. minimum. A very solid portion of my earnings fell [после отъезда из России], now 250 to 400 thousand rubles. How lucky are you with donations a month, subscribing to Boosty,” the streamer said.

Saxon explained that living in Canada is expensive if you do everything alone. “Since we’re together [с мужем Антоном] live and earn, that’s enough to live in Toronto. Half of it we have rent, food, plus and minus, half of it,” he added.

Anton also regularly streams on Twitch, posts board game reviews on YouTube with his wife, and posts exclusive videos on Boosty.

Olyasha also told how exactly she earns money as a publisher. “I have about 10-20 subscribers on OnlyFans. Since I have a mostly Russian-speaking audience, almost all of them are on Boosty, only those who cannot subscribe to Boosty subscribe to OnlyFans,” said Olyasha.

According to the publisher, its erotic content is not very suitable for OnlyFans viewers as it is used for pornography in the West.

“My content is not needed there. I will never really make a lot of money there and be popular there, I do not take the stars from the sky, ”Olyasha added.

In the stream, he openly admitted that his amount is 400 thousand rubles. Spending a month in Canada doesn’t make him feel safe.

“I feel like a low earner here. I have a feeling that you earn well, that you are rich, but I have a feeling that I am normal, ”Olyasha said.

At the same time, the blogger explained that if his income is converted from rubles to Canadian dollars, his earnings are higher than the Canadian average.

“Is this the norm at all?!”

Olyasha complained that she did not feel any stability in her life during her year in Canada. The situation was reversed – local residents with good earnings noticed a change for the worse.

“I understand people’s anger – life here is unstable, it’s just getting more expensive all the time, some kind of horse price is rising regularly,” he said.

According to the publisher, the price of everything, including real estate and gasoline, has increased by about 20% since February 2022.

“Canadians are holding their heads and running in circles like in that meme. If things keep going at this pace, then another year and we’re making bad money,” Saxon said.

He pointed out that in such a case, taxes did not decrease, but gradually increased according to earnings. “Taxes make up 23-25% of my earnings. Do not ask about the economic prerequisites for such an increase in the cost of living in Canada, I really do not know, ”Olgasha concluded.

The streamer regularly expresses his anger at Canadian prices on his personal Telegram channel. In June, he complained that the cherries in the store cost about a thousand rubles, or 14 Canadian dollars, per kilogram.

“Fear, mower one ruble per kilogram of cherries in the summer – is this normal at all?” Olyasha wrote and added a crying emoji.

Many users in the comments began to compare the prices of fruits in different countries. Some wrote that the price in Europe is not much different from the Canadian price. Others noted that there are shops in Russia selling fruit at the same high prices.

The reason for Olyasha’s anger in March was the cost of Gouda cheese. “In Canada you have to pay 600 rubles. For cheese, which in Moscow costs 160 rubles. – the blogger complained at the time. In the screenshots he showed Gouda cheese from different manufacturers from Canada and Russia. 160 grams of cheese costs CA$9.29 on the Canadian delivery application.

The blogger explained that he didn’t see a difference in the taste of the cheese. Even then, some users assured Saxon that the reason for such high prices was the high cost of living in Canada.

Back to Russia?

Despite all the disadvantages of Canada, the streamer does not yet plan to return to Russia permanently, instead regularly flying to Moscow for several weeks. This is because most of Olyasha’s advertising partners are in Russia. He also takes part in important events and gives interviews.

Saxon announced in May that he was considering moving to live in the UAE. In 2020, she arrived in the United Arab Emirates to her future husband Anton Gritsevsky.

“We are increasingly discussing the possibility of returning to the Emirates because we are in shock with taxes and salaries,” he said.

According to Olyasha, Canada is a “strange” country because real estate is more expensive here than in the US and salaries are lower than in the US.

“Your salary is much higher, real estate is cheaper because you don’t pay taxes in the Emirates [чем в Канаде]it is more profitable to live there, ”the streamer added.

She also revealed that until now she and her husband have not made a final decision.

“We’re working on a few options: go to a small town where life is cheaper in Canada, or go to a smaller town in the US, not Florida or California,” Olyasha said.

Saxon also sought the option of going to an Asian country to save money.

Since October 2021, Olyasha has been living with her husband-to-be Anton Gritsevsky in Barcelona, where she obtained a residence permit. The couple got married in Spain in May 2022. After living in a southern country for about a year, the newlyweds decided to move to Canada.
