YouTube will turn into a gaming service

Google has begun internal testing of its new Playables service, a video game platform powered by YouTube. In this respect informs The Wall Street Journal quotes a Google corporate mailing list.

The new service will reportedly let you run games in a web browser from the YouTube page, as well as mobile apps on iOS and Android. It is not necessary to download and install the game.

A few casual games are currently available on the service. One of them is known to be arcade Stack Bounce, where you have to break bricks with a bouncing ball.

YouTube did not reveal details about Playables to reporters, but noted that games have long been one of the company’s interests. They also said that the new service is not yet ready for announcement.

There’s no word on when Playables can become a public service and how to monetize it.
