Employees of the American technology company Microsoft criticized the management’s decision to suspend salary increases and cut bonuses this year. It has been reported business insider with reference to employees familiar with the situation.

According to the publication, the situation is related to the division of an IT company with responsibility for cloud technologies. Division chief Scott Guthrie reassured employees at a meeting in May that the company plans to keep all bonuses and increase salaries.

In June, however, the company changed its mind, and Microsoft’s president, Satya Nadella, informed its employees that it refused to increase wages and minimize wage payments. “Why do they see it appropriate to deceive their employees in this way?” – one of the employees was outraged in the company’s internal social network.

According to the publication, Microsoft executives have been instructed to give “outstanding cash rewards” to fewer employees. In addition, employees were affected by the management’s decision to lay off some of the staff.

“Layoff decisions hurt the company. Ever since we were notified of the planned layoffs, employees are in a rush to finish projects to show they care about the company, but they are constantly making mistakes in their jobs. As a result, overall engineering prowess declined. This affects everyone from the manager to the engineer,” said one of the employees.

One of the employees directly pointed out that if the company continues to make extraordinary profits, it should index wages. “Can you explain to us how a company that made over $18 billion in profits last quarter cannot afford a small annual pay raise for its employees?” — Wrote an employee at Microsoft’s internal social network.
