Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz has urged iPhone owners to regularly shut down their devices for five minutes to protect themselves from spyware that hackers can install remotely. The newspaper writes about it Guard.
“We each have a responsibility for our own lives. Simple tip: Turn off your smartphone for five minutes every night. “Those who listen to me, do this every 24 hours, while brushing your teeth or whatever you are doing.”
According to Albaniz, this measure will stop spyware running in the background on a mobile device.
The Guardian added that the US National Security Agency supports this recommendation. To the same end, the agency recommended that smartphones be force-restarted at least once a week.
Experts say this can help when it comes to very sophisticated spyware like Pegasus from Israeli NSO. After a reboot, hackers will need to re-infect the device using a vulnerability in the device’s operating system.
Previously at Kaspersky Lab spoke with a similar suggestion. According to experts, if the victim of hackers reboots the device, the attackers need to reboot the iPhone.
