The European Union (EU) plans to ban the use of 5G technologies that pose a threat. The list of such developments already included the solutions of the Chinese company Huawei. In this respect informs Financial Times edition.
Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for Internal Market, said that only one-third of European Union countries have voluntarily given up the use of Huawei equipment in their 5G networks. In particular, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia gave up the Chinese brand. At the same time, a big country like Germany continues to trust the Chinese seller.
According to Breton, this is a very small share. He believes that most countries’ loyal stance towards Huawei jeopardizes the security of the entire union.
The Financial Times writes that the EU could impose a strict ban on the use of Huawei technologies if most of the union’s member states continue to use the solutions of this and other companies considered untrustworthy. The relevant document was developed in 2020.
