Wellsenn XR experts analyzed the cost of components of the first Vision Pro MR headset and concluded that the cost of Apple’s new product is more than twice the retail price. In this respect informs My Drivers version.
Vision Pro components cost Apple about $ 1.5 thousand (about 122 thousand rubles at the exchange rate as of June 7, 2023). At the same time, the price of the finished device, set by the seller, is 3.5 thousand dollars (about 285 thousand rubles).
The most expensive parts of the Vision Pro are the screens. Apple pays the manufacturer $700 for each pair. In second place is the M2 processor, which costs the seller $120. Next comes the proprietary R1 chip for $60.
Quite expensive – at $120 – Apple also manages the body of the MR headset, which uses intricately shaped glass and a carbon frame, among other things. Assembling the device costs $130 per piece.
Based on the data available, My Drivers thinks the Vision Pro’s final cost is not as “excessive” as it might seem at first glance. Also, as journalists noted, the Wellsenn XR listing doesn’t include Apple’s research and engineering costs for the headset, as well as shipping.
