Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies announced that it has made an agreement with Samsung to establish a 6,000 square meter smartphone factory in the country. In this respect informs IT-Home publication referring to the Arabian Finance Network agency.
Construction of the factory will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. It will be located in Upper Egypt. The business is expected to employ around 1,400 people in the country.
As soon as the factory is up and running, its lines will immediately start producing the latest smartphone models from the Galaxy series. At the same time, it was not specified whether these smartphones will be from the Galaxy A budget category or Galaxy S flagships.
IT-Home believes that smartphones manufactured in Egypt will be aimed exclusively at the domestic market. Export devices will continue to be manufactured at Samsung’s largest factory in Vietnam.
