Android smartphone users are largely switching to Apple’s iPhones in the US primarily due to issues with gadgets running on Google’s mobile operating system. This was noted in a study by analysts from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).
The main reason was a problem with the operation of Android. More than 53% of respondents said they switched to iPhone because of issues with their Android smartphone.
“We’ve been told that it doesn’t work well, especially because older phones are old, need repair, or have some kind of flaw that spoils the user experience,” the experts said.
The second most common reason for the change was new iPhone features such as an improved camera, enhanced accessory options, or a more intuitive user interface.
While Android smartphones cost less than iPhones, 15% of respondents said they “spend less than expected on a new iPhone or similar Android smartphone.” According to CIRP analysts, this was because customers were finding discounts on older iPhone models.
At the same time, only 6% of respondents said they switched to iPhone because of Apple’s iMessage and FaceTime messengers.
In early May, CIRP analysts announced that Apple’s attracts the most buyers with Android gadgets over the past five years. In 2023, 15% of new iPhone owners admitted that their last smartphone was an Android mobile device.
