Half of network users in Russia are unsure of the strength of their passwords. This is evidenced by the results of a survey taken by socialbites.ca by Tinkoff ID and the analytical agency Online Market Intelligence (OMI).

The remaining 50% of the respondents stated that they use easy-to-remember character combinations as passwords. At the same time, only 21% of respondents use a password generator. 44% said manufacturers create very complex passwords, 26% said they were not prepared to trust them, and 9% said they had never heard of such programs.

Multi-factor authentication has become the most popular way to protect your own accounts — 59% of respondents use it. In second place was identification using biometrics – 34% of Russians declared that it was used.

Also, traditional methods of dealing with dangers on the Internet are still prevalent among respondents. In a multiple-choice question, Russians cited antivirus programs (52%), programs that restrict access to location data (45%), hide personal connections from public access (45%), and refuse to save bank card data online. The most effective of these methods – the purchase (45%).

More than 1,000 Russians aged 18 to 55 across the country participated in the study.

Formerly socialbites.ca we talked about itthat hundreds of millions of Android users are at risk of becoming victims of cyber espionage.
