Valve started changing Steam users’ regions without their knowledge, informs DTF Portal. Thus, the account of one of the portal users was transferred from the Turkish region to the United States.
It was noted that the account of the user nicknamed Shikari MG was automatically transferred to the United States and cannot be reinstated. Moreover, it is now offered to buy games at US regional prices, which are higher than in Turkey.
Shortly after the Shikari MG post was published, other Steam users whose Turkey accounts were transferred to other countries, including Russia, joined the discussion. As a result, many people are no longer able to make purchases as Steam does not accept Russian cards.
It is assumed that the issue only affects users who purchase games in a different region using the sale of skins, keys, crates and other items via the Steam marketplace. This method allows you to withdraw funds directly from your wallet without using foreign bank cards.
There is no official statement from Valve about this situation yet.
