Digital Foundry experts during the weekly podcast discussed previously introduced a handheld console for streaming PS5 games called Project Q. Columnist John Linneman jokingly criticized the device, claiming it was invented by a sixth grader.

“Project Q looks like it was made by a sixth grader. “Dude, what happens if you attach a screen to your PlayStation controller?” He says and starts to draw his design in his notebook. Project Q lacks the elegance of Ken Kutaragi-era Sony handhelds. This goes for the PSP as a work of art, as well as the PS Vita, a device that’s great in terms of design. There’s not an ounce of that elegance in Project Q,” Linneman said.

Additionally, Linneman and Digital Foundry commentator Richard Leadbetter agreed that Sony left too many questions after the device’s introduction without showing it in working condition. This helps potential buyers understand why they need such an accessory.

As part of the podcast, experts also discussed the battery life of Project Q, which according to insider Tom Henderson will be 3-4 hours. Experts suggested that the small autonomy of the device can be a significant drawback for users who want to buy a new product.

Project Q is a PS5 remote game launcher with an 8-inch display with DualSense controller halves placed on the sides. At the same time, Project Q is not a full-fledged portable console, as the games were released on PS5 and then already on Project Q. The start date and price of the sales of the device have not yet been announced.
