YouTube tech blogger Austin Evans said he sold his 2021 Tesla Model Y electric car because he was fed up with the car’s many quality issues. He told the broadcast business insider.
“It was like a grind, like thousands of cuts all over my body. Tesla had a lot of minor issues that just kept piling up.” Evans admitted that he and his wife had driven more than 40,000km in the last two years and were not very happy with the electric car.
According to the tech blogger, the rage started when a strip of adhesive was applied between the panels of his sunroof. The blogger noticed such carelessness when delivering the car, but decided that this is not critical for a family car.
“Some parts were constantly on the verge of falling out of the body of the electric car. For example, a speaker on the passenger side and a spoiler at the rear of the car. The panel under the car dragged and jolted while driving, and only a few months after owning the car, I had to specially fasten the covers of the seat controls because they fell off,” Evans complained.
He also criticized the ride quality, which he said caused the car to sway into the seat on nearly every bump in the road. The blogger considered Tesla’s lack of a control panel as a disadvantage. According to him, the lack of physical control was “absolutely brought to an absurd minimum.”
Evans also drew attention to the advantages of the Model Y. For example, the blogger liked the speed of the electric car and the Track Mode, which allows Tesla to optimize its performance for continuous travel. The blogger rated the Tesla Supercharger network as the best feature of an electric car from Elon Musk.
“I tried to be honest in my review, I’m not just saying that Tesla sucks. There are things about this car that I will miss, but there are also a lot of things that really bother me,” Evans concluded.
