IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said that within five years, quantum computers could be commercialized by various companies and gradually replaced classical systems. He talked about it in an interview. Nikki.

“In three to five years, there will be full-fledged commercial applications for quantum computers. The capabilities of quantum computers from 4,000 qubits to 10,000 qubits will be sufficient to solve problems in the commercial segment,” he said.

Krishna also announced collaboration with the University of Tokyo and the University of Chicago to build a quantum computer of 100,000 qubits in 10 years. IBM will invest $100 million in the project.

According to the head of IBM, quantum computers will allow solving problems that could be too complex or time-consuming for traditional supercomputers. He also pointed out that Japanese experts are making good progress in the field of quantum computing.

In April, Russian scientists demonstrated the possibility of remote access for the first time to a five-qubit ion quantum computer. Physicists have started basic quantum algorithms by connecting to the processor from a classical PC in real time.
