Major Japanese retailer Despara Akihabara held a big launch to celebrate the release of Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card, but only one person attended the event. According to a Japanese publication GDMwas the sole buyer of new products.

It was noted that sales in Japan began on May 24, and a store in Tokyo’s Akihabara district, known for its many stores with electronics, anime and video games, was selected for the official launch.

According to GDM, the RTX 4060 Ti was available in two stores, both of which were open late into the night. However, only one buyer arrived at the start of sales and eventually bought the RTX 4060 Ti.

Journalists said, “While buying electronics from well-known brands, queues form at Despara Akihabara stores on the day of departure.”

According to one version, potential buyers were frightened by the price difference of a video card. The cost of the RTX 4060 Ti in Japan starts at 69.8 thousand yen, or about 500 dollars (40,000 rubles at the current exchange rate).

The RTX 4060 Ti went on sale in Russia. The price of a video card starts from 43 thousand rubles. At the same time, the cost of a video card in the USA starts from $ 399, excluding analogues.

In May, the day before sales of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti began, bloggers and journalists posted negative reviews for a novelty, encouraging them to stop buying.
