The share of Android devices sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2023 accounted for 89.6% of all smartphones sold, which is 4.3% more than in the same period last year. In this respect informs Vedomosti publication citing Artur Makhlayuk, business analyst at F+tech/Marvel Group of Companies.
In quantitative terms, Android smartphone sales in Russia rose from 5.65 million to 5.85 million devices. In money, the indicator rose from 89.8 billion to 107.8 billion rubles. Thus, Android devices accounted for 63.5% of all smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2023, 3.4% higher than the previous year’s result.
In contrast, the share of the iPhone in the Russian market at the beginning of the year decreased from 14.4% to 10.4% (from 951 thousand devices to 677 thousand devices). Apple’s share in the money fell from 39.9% to 36.5% (from 71.58 to 51.6 billion rubles).
According to Makhlayuk, the decline in Apple’s activity in Russia is due to the decrease in the volume of parallel imports of American equipment and the emergence of new models from competing brands. According to the analyst, the shutdown of a number of Apple services on the territory of the Russian Federation also left its mark – in connection with this, viewer loyalty is falling.
