As insiders claimed, Project Q turned out to be a “cloud” device with an 8-inch HD display with DualSense-style controllers on the sides. Project Q will not be able to run video games on its own, but will play them in video format using the Remote Play functionality and PlayStation 5. So, players will need a stable PlayStation console to play Project Q.

The Verge believes Sony developed Project Q to compete with gaming portables like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and more. Project Q will be positioned as a device for those who cannot or do not want to sit in front of the TV and PlayStation 5 and want to continue playing games.
