Taiwanese company Wistron has terminated the contract with Apple for iPhone production in India. In this respect informs Edition of The Economic Times.
Wistron said this was due to low production margins and Apple’s reluctance to make concessions. According to the company management, they did not have any profits from the business and negotiations with the American company were unsuccessful. Unlike other Apple partners such as Foxconn and Pegatron, Wistron in India accounts for only 7% of total iPhone production, which does not put the necessary pressure on the manufacturer on the customer.
The Economic Times believes that another reason Wistron left India was because Taiwanese bosses had problems with the local work culture. The 24-hour work schedule, which is customary for Asia, has repeatedly led to open conflicts between factory workers and business management.
With data Wistron factory DigiTimes in India will be acquired by local conglomerate Tata Group, which will continue to cooperate with Apple. Tata Group is expected to receive a contract to manufacture 5% of the total iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro after the deal is complete.
