An American named Ross Hecox sued the food delivery service DoorDash for an additional fee when ordering from an iPhone. informs business inside.

The lawsuit claims that DoorDash charges additional fees when users place an order on the iPhone. It also assumes that DashPass users, a $10 monthly subscription, will also be charged an additional “extended range” fee. As Business Insider points out, this item of expense is not listed on the customer fees list on the DoorDash website. Applies to certain orders whose addresses are close to where the order was received.

Hecox conducted an experiment using a regular account and an account with an active DashPass subscription. An additional fee was added to the DashPass account after placing the same order at the same restaurant, not the regular account. As with no surcharge, an extended range charge of $1 is added to the invoice even though the order was placed with the same shipping address.

In addition, it is claimed that a range extension fee will be charged for orders made from normal accounts using iPhone. After doing a similar test with an iPhone and an Android smartphone, Hecox charged an additional fee when ordering from an iPhone, but not Android.

In the lawsuit, Hecox is seeking $1 billion in damages. A DoorDash spokesperson said Hecox’s allegations were unfounded.
