Montana governor bans authorities from using Telegram and WeChat

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte accused Telegram, WeChat and the Temu shopping app of being linked to “foreign agents” and asked authorities to stop using these services. Portal reports Border.

The letter to Gianforte says the Russian government uses Telegram “to spy on people and collect personal and confidential information”.

Montana’s new law goes into effect on June 1. Authorities will not be able to use the above apps on smartphones, laptops, tablets, PCs and other devices with internet access. Also, Gianforte demands that private companies doing business on behalf of the state of Montana stop using the “dangerous” services.
