Apple introduced A new Personal Voice feature (in Russian – “Personal Voice”) for iPhone that allows you to recreate the voice of a user or another person in minutes. The novelty is part of the iOS 17 update for people with disabilities.
Personal Voice is said to be for people at risk of losing their speech due to illness or injury. To create a “Personal Voice”, the user must read a series of random phrases and record a 15-minute “voice message” on an iPhone or iPad. Machine learning then creates a voice on the device that resembles the user’s voice.
The recreated audio can be used with another feature, Live Speech; this allows the user to type and produce text during phone and FaceTime calls and in person.
Apple assures that the new features guarantee the privacy and security of user data. These and other features for people with disabilities are expected to be available before the end of 2023.
