Google Pixel series smartphone users will be able to use their devices as a dash camera thanks to the new feature of the Personal Security application. In this respect informs 9to5Google portal that analyzes the latest version of the app.
Dashcam feature lets you record video and audio in the background without interfering with other apps. Recorded files will be automatically deleted three days after recording, unless they are saved manually. One minute of recording will take about 30MB of memory.
For users’ convenience, Dashcam feature will turn on and off automatically when connected to a specific Bluetooth device such as on-board computer. According to 9to5Google, the Dashcam feature will arrive on Google Pixel smartphones in June 2023 as part of the next Feature Downgrade update.
There are already several third-party apps on Google Play that implement the DVR functionality on a smartphone. However, the Dashcam functionality will be integrated into the Personal Security app that the company designed to protect users in emergencies.
